Milfred "Bud" Dale, Ph.D. (ABPP), J.D.

Licensed Attorney & Psychologist

Dr. Bud Dale is a nationally recognized child custody advocate, expert, evaluator, and scholar. He is certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and is also a practicing family law attorney listed since 2018 & 2019 as a Super Lawyer - Rising Star.  He maintains clinical and forensic psychology practices in Topeka, Kansas, and Dallas, Texas.  His family law practice is in Topeka.

Dr. Dale's advocacy for the best interests of children and families is multi-faceted and occurs at the state, national, and international level.  He has served two three-year terms on the Board of Directors of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the world's largest organization committed to serving children, parents, and families of divorce and parental separation. He served on AFCC Think Tanks on Shared Parenting (2013) and the Use of Social Science Research in 

Family Law (2018-2019).

Dr. Dale regularly presents at local, state, national, and international events.  He has written on a broad array of topics including attachment and overnights, forensic interviews of children, the ethics of relationships between attorneys and experts, a meta-analysis of the empirical research on shared parenting, and parenting coordination models across the U.S. and Canada.

Dr. Dale currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Family Trauma, Child Custody, and Child Development (formerly Journal of Child Custody), is on the Editorial Boards of the American Bar Association's Family Law Quarterly and AFCC's Family Court Review, and does ad hoc reviews for the journal, Psychology, Public Policy and Law. View Dr. Dale's Vita   

 

Dr. Dale also created and moderates www.bestinterests-talk.com, an international listserv of child custody professionals, forensic psychologists, and family law attorneys committed to ongoing dialogues about child custody ethics, practices, and research.
